COMMUNITY
EMPLOYMENT & TRAINING
We are committed to creating employment opportunities in the communities in which we work, and we will ensure that we maximise the number of opportunities we provide on this scheme.
Each year we offer opportunities to join our company through graduate positions, work experience, student placements, and apprenticeships, as well as entry level job opportunities on our sites. If you are interested in joining our team then find out more by clicking the link below
INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION
Inspiring future generations and showing young people the opportunities open to them is important to us and that's why through our STEM ambassador Cath Waller we undertake educational and career initiatives within schools and youth organisations that help open young people's eyes to the future careers available to them.
We undertake careers and STEM events and promote initiatives such as the I.C.E Bridges to Schools and CCS Ivor Goodsite.
We also work closely with Welsh Universities and Colleges and each year offer work experience and graduate opportunities to young people studying here in Wales. Click the link below to visit our careers webpage and here what some of our recent graduates and placement students think about the opportunities provided by us.
VOLUNTEERING
We have an Employer Supported Volunteering policy that gives every employee paid leave each year for volunteering.
Our site teams regularly get involved in volunteer schemes to support local community organisations; we will identify opportunities on this project through direct liaison with community groups to ensure that we make a positive impact within the area we are working.
If you have a project that would benefit from our volunteer support then please get in contact with us by email
COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Grassroots community engagement is important to us at Knights Brown. On each of our projects, we work with local community groups and organisations to find ways that we can make a lasting difference. Each year we support numerous community projects through material donations, funding, hands-on experience and general support. We love supporting the areas where we work and are committed to making a difference to the areas where we work. If you have a project idea that you think may benefit from our support then please get in contact with us.
ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABILITY
We take a responsible and ethical approach to our work and in April 2021, we released our first comprehensive strategy to respond to the climate and nature emergency. We call it Goal 13 in recognition of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, of which Goal 13 is climate action. We've set a clear objective for carbon reduction: To transition to net zero, accelerating progress to significantly reduce carbon emissions by 2030 in line with a science-based target pathway, compensating for residual emissions through potential high-impact climate and nature actions that deliver long-lasting, quality results alongside environmental and social benefits.
Goal 13 also takes into account our broader environmental impacts recognising that the excessive consumption of precious resources contributes to effects such as pollution and the loss of wildlife and wild places, as well as to climate change itself. Our sustainable workplaces plan will help us make positive changes in important areas including reductions in water consumption, waste and single use plastic, building on the existing good practice already taking place in our business.
Each of our divisional offices has established its own local group of Goal 13 champions seeking to effect change locally and improve what we do overall as an organisation. Two of the Canal Quarter project team, Joseph Tucker and Cath Waller, are Goal 13 champions for our Wales & Energy Division.
